Properties 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol is a clear, light-colored liquid with the molecular formula C4H11NO: Properties: 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol is immiscible with water, miscible with alcohols, and has a flash point of 172 F. It has a molar mass of 89.14. Uses: 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol is used in cosmetics, buffer solution preparation, and as a reagent in the synthesis of silicon rhodamine dye. It can also be used as an acid gas treating solvent to remove H2S and CO2 from gas streams. Incompatible with: 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol is incompatible with oxidizing agents, strong acids, copper, brass, and aluminum. Neutralization: 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanols neutralize acids to form water and salts. Exothermic: 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanols are exothermic. Melting range: 2-Amino-2-methyl-1-propanol may be solid, liquid, a solidified melt, or a supercooled melt due to its specific melting range.
