About Listeria Identification Agar Base PALCAM 100g

• Target Organisms: Detects and isolates Listeria species (such as Listeria monocytogenes) from food, dairy, animal feed, and clinical specimens.
• Selective Property: Inhibits background microflora using lithium chloride and a required selective supplement. 

• Esculin & Ferric Citrate: Listeria hydrolyzes esculin, producing a distinct black-brown halo around the colonies.
• Mannitol & Phenol Red: Listeria does not ferment mannitol (colonies stay gray-green), while competing organisms that ferment mannitol turn the surrounding medium yellow. 
• Supplement: Requires the addition of PALCAM Selective Supplement (such as HiMedia FD061 containing polymyxin B, ceftazidime, and acriflavine hydrochloride) after autoclaving.
