About LP Enrichment Supplement 1 5vl

HiMedia's LP Enrichment Supplement 1 (FD214) is a sterile, liquid, L-phosphatidylinositol-based supplement (1 g/25 mL vial) designed for the selective differentiation of Listeria monocytogenes from other Listeria species. It is used with specific media, such as HiCrome Listeria Ottaviani-Agosti Agar Base, creating an opaque halo around L. monocytogenes colonies due to Phospholipase C (PIPLC) activity. Key Details and Usage:
  • Purpose: Differential isolation of L. monocytogenes.
  • Composition: 1 g L-phosphatidylinositol in 25 mL distilled water per vial.
  • Mechanism: Hydrolyzed by PIPLC enzyme in L. monocytogenes to form an opaque halo.
  • Directions: Aseptically add 1 vial to 460-500 mL of sterilized, cooled (45-50C) agar base.
  • Storage: Store at 2-8C.
  • Pack Size: Usually supplied as a pack of 5 vials.
