HiMedia FD040 (MWY Selective Supplement) is an antibiotic supplement used in microbiology for the selective isolation of Legionella species from clinical and water samples. It is typically added to Buffered Charcoal Yeast Extract (BCYE) agar bases. [1, 2]Key Details

Application: Suppresses contaminating microorganisms while allowing Legionella to grow.
Active Ingredients: Contains polymyxin B, glycine, anisomycin, vancomycin, and pH indicators (bromothymol blue and bromocresol purple).
Usage: Each vial is sufficient for 500 ml of sterile, molten medium.
Preparation: Rehydrate contents aseptically with 50% aqueous ethanol and add to cooled (45-50C) agar bases.
