Non Absorbent Cotton 500g About

  • Non-absorbent cotton wool I.P. (Indian Pharmacopoeia) is pure, bleached cotton that has been treated to repel water and other fluids, rather than soak them up. It is supplied in a non-sterile state and, as directed by its labeling, must be sterilized before any use that requires a sterile environment, such as surgical applications or direct contact with open wounds. Description and Characteristics
    • Composition: Made from 100% pure, natural cotton fibers, typically cotton linters, which are short fibers left after ginning.
    • Appearance: It is a white, soft, and fluffy material, often provided in rolls or pads.
    • Non-Absorbent Property: The key characteristic is its hydrophobic nature. The cotton fibers are coated with non-polar materials like paraffin wax or silicone oils, which lowers the surface energy and causes the material to resist water and other liquids. Non-absorbent cotton will float on water, whereas absorbent cotton will sink.
