• Intended Use: Designed for routine analysis of water and examination of food materials to find coliform bacteria. 
• Selective Agent: Contains sodium heptadecyl sulphate (Tergitol-7), which inhibits gram-positive bacteria and stops Proteus swarming to help recover coliforms. 
• Nutrient Sources: Uses proteose peptone and yeast extract for carbon, nitrogen, and vitamin B complex.
• Indicator: Uses bromo thymol blue as a pH indicator.
• Optional Supplement: Often used by adding TTC Solution (1%) (Triphenyl Tetrazolium Chloride) to help differentiate bacterial colonies like Escherichia coli. 

• Suspension: Suspend 33.13 grams of the powder in 1000 ml of purified or distilled water.
• Dissolving: Heat to boiling so the medium dissolves completely.
• Sterilization: Autoclave at 15 lbs pressure (121C) for 15 minutes.
• Pouring: Cool to 4550C, add 3 ml of sterile 1% TTC solution if desired, mix well, and pour into sterile Petri plates
