It is a 125mm diameter filter, designed for critical gravimetric analysis and sample preparation for instrumental analysis. The filter paper is acid hardened for high wet strength and chemical resistance, and has a very low ash content (0.007% nominal). Key features and characteristics:
  • Ashless: The filter paper is ashless, meaning it has a very low ash content (0.007% nominal) after ignition, making it suitable for quantitative analysis. 
  • Fine particle retention: Grade 42 has the finest particle retention of all Whatman ashless filter papers, making it suitable for capturing very small particles. 
  • Gravimetric analysis: It's a standard for critical gravimetric analysis, commonly used for separating and weighing precipitates.
