D.P.X. (Distyrene, Plasticizer, and Xylene) is a colorless, synthetic resin mounting medium for microscopy. Manufactured by Merck, it is specifically designed to permanently fix, protect, and preserve stained biological sections and tissue smears on glass slides while maintaining optical clarity. Key Features
  • Composition: A high-purity mixture of distyrene, a plasticizer, and xylene. Merck's updated formulations ("DPX new") are specifically designed to be eco-friendly and safer by avoiding the teratogenic plasticizer Dibutyl phthalate (DBP). [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Drying Time: Medium viscosity that dries quickly (touch dry in approximately 15 minutes) to ensure a smooth, bubble-free finish. Applications
