HiCrome Chromogenic Coliform agar (CCA Agar) is a selective medium used to detect coliforms and Escherichia coli in food and water samples. It's used in laboratories for research, diagnostics, and manufacturing. What it contains

Chromogenic substrates: Detect the activity of -D-galactosidase and -D-glucuronidase
Peptone special: Provides nutrients for organisms to grow
Sodium pyruvate: Provides nutrients for organisms to grow
Phosphates: Buffer the medium
Sodium lauryl sulfate: Inhibits gram-positive organisms
L-Tryptophan: Improves the indole reaction

How it works

Coliforms produce the enzyme -galactosidase, which cleaves a chromogen and turns coliform colonies salmon red
E. coli produces the enzyme -glucuronidase, which cleaves X-glucuronide and turns E. coli colonies dark blue to violet

How to use it

Store in a tightly closed container between 1525C
Use before the expiration date
Dispose of used or unusable preparations by autoclaving or incineration
