HiMedias LP Enrichment Supplement 1 (FD214) is a sterile laboratory supplement used for the selective differentiation of Listeria monocytogenes from other Listeria species. 
Key Details and Composition
  • Purpose: Differential isolation and identification of Listeria monocytogenes. 
  • Active Ingredient: Contains 1 g of L-phosphatidylinositol in 25 mL of distilled water per vial. 
  • Mechanism: Listeria monocytogenes produces a phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C (PIPLC) enzyme that hydrolyzes the L-phosphatidylinositol in the supplement, creating a distinct opaque halo around the colonies. 
  • Compatible Media: Used with chromogenic agar bases designed to detect PIPLC activity, such as HiCrome Listeria Ottaviani-Agosti Agar Base. 
  • Storage: Store between 2C and 8C. 
Directions for Use
  • Aseptically add 1 sterile vial to 460500 mL of sterilized, cooled (4550C) agar base along with any other required selective supplements.
