R-2A Agar 500g Himedia About

R-2A Agar is a low-nutrient culture medium used to count bacteria in treated drinking water: 
  • Description: A solid medium that's clear to slightly turbid and yellowish in color. It has a pH value of 7.07.4 at 25C. 
  • Purpose: Used to count bacteria in drinking water, and to recover stressed or chlorine-tolerant bacteria. 
  • Development: Developed by Reasoner and Geldreich. 
  • Incubation: Incubate aerobically at 32.5 2.5C for up to 3 days for bacteria, and at 22.5 2.5C for 57 days for yeasts and molds. 
  • Quality control: Available in basic, plus, or prime quality control levels. 
  • Shelf life: Can have a shelf life of up to five years. 
  • Safety: Not classified as dangerous, but it's recommended to consult the safety data sheet for correct use. 
  • Intended use: For professional use only, by properly trained operators. 
R-2A Agar is not intended for diagnosing disease or other conditions in humans.
