About Mercuric Sulphate 100G

• Appearance: White, odorless, crystalline powder or granules.
• Chemical Formula: HgSO4.
• Solubility: Soluble in hot sulfuric acid and dilute nitric acid, and insoluble in water.
• Density: 6.47 g/cm3.
• Toxicity: Mercuric sulfate is highly toxic and can be fatal if inhaled, ingested, or absorbed through the skin.
• Decomposition: Decomposes at 450C, producing toxic fumes of mercury and sulfur oxides.

• Catalyst: Used as a catalyst in the production of acetaldehyde from acetylene and water.
• Oxymercuration-demercuration: Used as a catalyst in oxymercuration-demercuration, a type of electrophilic addition reaction.
• COD AnalysisUsed to remove interference of chlorides in COD determination.
• Medicine: Historically used in medicine, for gold and silver extraction, and to make other mercury compounds.
